As an Architect

I'm a process driven designer. I'm comfortable working independently, but prefer collaboration. I'm detail oriented by nature and this manifests in how I fill any role on a project. I love establishing WHY something should be done, then following with the HOW it will get done. I look at architecture holistically and find opportunities to express concept down to the detail. 

Experienced  l  Innovative

Diverse experience allows me to drive creative projects to and from multiple directions. Working with varying scales, budgets and clients, I find an appropriate way to excel. I value innovation in how we design and produce architecture, but I try to only reinvent the wheel in moderation. 

Communicator  l  Collaborator

I value clear communication and believe it's essential for successful creative work. I'm a healthy communicator and I try to build relationships with everyone because it makes spaces better. Designing/building spaces is a collaborative endeavor & I honestly value everyone involved in designing, building & using the spaces I work on. 

Versatile  l  Inquisitive

I try to maintain perspective and stay contextual. Not just with a design, but with my role on a project. I'm comfortable in many roles, happy to lead or follow, circumstance permitting. I'm inquisitive and try to stay curious wherever I land, so I'm never bored and I keep learning.   

As a human person

I am a music lover, wave rider, snow-slider, traveler, day hiker, camper and animal lover. I'm a shade-tree-mechanic who prefers riding bicycles. I am a country dweller with a city heart. I love small, family-run diners and curated culinary experiences with equal measure. I believe our talented hearts and minds can create better spaces to honor each other, our environment and improve the human experience. I love to explore neighborhoods, cities, regions and continents, because I'm curious and travel ultimately lends perspective. It's all about perspective. 

I was raised in cloud-enshrouded hills of the Pacific northwest, where I learned to love the natural world. A drive for adventure lead me to Latin America, where my perspective was changed forever. I was called to the humid shores of the coastal southeastern US, where I searched my soul. A new confidence & a hunch lead me to the desert southwest to learn the craft of architecture. Hard economic times pulled me to Colorado and good fortune kept me there. Divine inspiration and magic lead me back to Costa Rica. I am my happiest here, but my eyes are always on the horizon.
